What are the benefits of a Cleveland Public Library Educator Card?

  • Check-out up to 75 items on your Educator Card

Who is eligible?

Educators from public, private, parochial, and charter schools, as well as licensed child care centers, can apply for a Cleveland Public Library Educator Card.

How do I apply?

Complete an Educator Card application form and bring it, along with photo identification, to any Cleveland Public Library location.

What is acceptable identification?

Provide one of the following:

  • A current school-issued or program-issued photo ID
  • A current letter on the school’s or program’s letterhead confirming employment and
  • state issued photo ID
  • During a class visit, a state issued photo ID (no letter necessary)

How much does it cost to get a Cleveland Public Library Educator Card?

The Educator Card is available to eligible educators at no charge.

Do Educator Cards expire?

Educator Cards are issued for the school year and expire on July 31. You can renew your card in person at any CPL location by providing current acceptable ID along with your Educator Card. Your Educator Card account must be in good standing at the time of renewal.

My card expired; is my account in good standing?

There must be no overdue, billed, or lost items on your Educator Card to be considered “in good standing.”

I already have a personal library card. Can you change it into a Educator Card?

Educator Cards have different rules associated with them. You should maintain your personal library card account for items that will not be used in the classroom.

Can I still apply for an Educator Card if I owe fines on my personal library card?

You must have a personal card that is in good standing to be issued an Educator Card.

Where can I use my Educator Card?

You can use your Educator Card at any Cleveland Public Library location.
